Mahas (Alshahid) – Alshabab insurgent group have clashed with the moderate and pro government group of Ahlu Sunna waljama’a in parts of Hiran region in central Somalia, witness said on Tuesday.

The fighting described as fierce started at villages around Mahas district of Hiran region and Alshabab are reported to have seized control of the area.

Reports indicate that that the locals are nervous and some were seen fleeing the area and moving to Balad weyne town.

No deaths or casualties have been reported from either side.
