Somali president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed

Garowe(alshahid)—Somali president Sharif Sheik Ahmed has congratulated Sunday the semi autonomous region of Puntland of its eleventh anniversary.

The people of Puntland regions celebrated the eleventh anniversary on Saturday. President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed wished Puntland of peace and prosperity.

He also requested the authorities of Puntland regions in north eastern Somalia to continue their support of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.

Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has also congratulated Puntland of the eleventh anniversary.

Separately, a ceremony commemorating the eleventh anniversary of Puntland has been in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Sunday.

Government officials attended the ceremony and all of them congratulated Puntland for the eleventh anniversary.

Osman Elmi Boqorre, Somali deputy speaker addressed in the ceremony and sent congratulations to Puntland State administration.

Similar ceremonies have also been held in other towns in Somalia. The administration of Puntland was formed in 1998 and former Somali president Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed became the first president of the administration.
