New York (Alshahid) – A new report compiled by the security council of the UN describes how the food by WFP meant to be distributed to the vulnerable Somalis end up in the wrong hands.
The report which is not the made public indicates that Somali contractors and the insurgent groups opposed to the TFG and the presence of AMISOM misuse the food aid by selling hence making large profits.
The report also pointed out the rebel groups of Alshabab and Hizbul Islam use the money they get from the sale of WFP food for purchasing arms to fight the TFG and AMISOM.
The TFG itself was not spared in the report as she was accused of getting money from piracy and also selling Visas meant for the government delegations who are attending seminars and meetings in Europe and US.
This new report comes at a time when Alshabab banned the WFP operations in Somalia.
