NUSOJ and UNSOM Train Media Professionals in the Town of Kismayo

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) organized a two day training for 29 media professionals in the town of Kismayo, the capital of Jubbaland State of Somalia on 22 – 23 July 2015.

Facilitated by theUnited Nations Assistance Mission to Somalia (UNSOM), the training focused Personal Safety, Reporting on the New Deal, State Building and Political Process. The training, which was co-organized by the NUSOJ’s regional affiliate, Jubbaland Journalists Association (JIJA) becomes the first training of its kind held for journalists in Kismayo.

Similar trainings have been held in Garowe, Puntland and Mogadishu by the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) and United Nations Assistance Mission (UNSOM). The next training is scheduled to be held in early August in the town of Baidoa, the capital of Southwest State of Somalia.
