Mogadishu (Alshahid) – In the last few days there were efforts by some Somali businessmen and scholars in Mogadishu  to resolve the enmity between Alshabab and Hizbul Islam.

The reports that we are getting from Mogadishu say that some senior officials in Alshabab agreed to meet with the Hizbul Islam leader; Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys so as to start talks with him and end the hostility between the two groups.

High ranked officials from the Hizbul Islam group who talked to the Alshahid.net said that their side is determined to sit in the negotiation table with Alshabab and end the disputes peacefully. The officials added that for the sake of the peace the Hizbul Islam group accepted to start the talks with Alshabab without any conditions.

Both Alshabab and Hizbul Islam are opposing the western backed TFG and the presence of AMISOM in the country. The infighting between Alshabab and Hizbul Islam is of  great benefit to the TFG and AMISOM.
