Hizbul Islam slams AU leaders
Mogadishu (Alshahid) – The leader of the Islamic rebel group of Hizbul Islam on Tuesday strongly condemned African union leaders who participated 14 session of the A.U in Addis Ababa this week for fomenting the violence in Somalia.
Speaking during press conference in the capital Mogadishu , Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys launched a scathing attack on the African union and Igad who he accused of aggravating Somali crisis.
He also accused Spanish government after it called the UN the to lead efforts to bring peace back to Somalia , a move that Hassan Dahir Aways sees as more foreign interference in the internal affairs of Somalia .
At the same time, the cleric accused Harakatu Shabab Al-Mujahideen of breaking previous agreement between Shabab and Hizbul Islam that prevented each group from recruiting soldiers from the other.
He his remarks came senior Hizbul Islam leaders declared joining forces with Shabab and agreed on number of points including combining the war in Somalia with a global jihad led by Al-Qaeda .
The smaller outlet that joined forces with Shabab is led by the influential military leader Hassan Turki who is accused of financing “terrorist”.
He described those who joined Shabab as mere individuals who will not affect party policies and military objectives.
