Security challenges hamper Somali parliament sessions

Mogadishu (Alshahid) – The first deputy of the Somali parliament speaker Mohamed Omar Dalha said on Wednesday that the delay to Somali parliamentary sessions was due to number of factors, mainly insecurity.

Mr. Dalha said that MP’s have also made complaints regarding allowances and salaries.

“We now have full quorum of the parliament but there are security fears as well as issues regarding financial concerns that are delaying our sessions” he said

He promised to use all means at their disposal to solve the security challenges facing Somali MP’s after several attempts on the lives of the Somali mps.

Some Somali mps accused the government of not protecting the parliamentarians.

The deputy speaker of the Somali parliament also expressed hope that Somali mps will soon hold their sessions.
