Iran urges efforts to restore stability in Somalia.

Tehran (Alshahid) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday that his country was willing to help in efforts to restore stability and security in Somalia.

During talks in Tehran with Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Jangeli Ahmad, Mottaki reiterated Iran’s willingness to extend financial aid to Somalia’s reconstruction plans and efforts, the Fars news agency reports.

He also called for Somalis to return to national consensus issues and assist the country through their constructive participation.

The Somali foreign minister said piracy and terrorism were the two major challenges that his country faces, reports the semi-official ISNA news agency.

He called for Iran’s help to tackle those two issues, and stressed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
