Kenya State House accused of sponsoring political parties
Nairobi (Alshahid) – Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo accused Kenya’s State House of sponsoring various political parties or presidential candidate for Kenya’s next General election.
Mr Jirongo has claimed that influential people at State House were sponsoring some political parties including the United Democratic Forum (UDF) of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi and Eldoret North MP William Ruto’s United Republican Party (URP).
More recently, there has been speculation that the President had developed a soft spot for Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi who decamped from Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to the United Democratic Forum.
But the State House refuted Jirongo’s accusation.
A statement by the Presidential Press Service, termed the allageations by Jirongo as “careless and irresponsible”.
“We will not give any credence to the allegations from a political activist whose political and business history is very well known to the Kenyan public,” said the terse statement Tuesday.
“As a presidential candidate who seeks to occupy State House he should be telling Kenyans what he will do to transform their lives not yapping State House, State House every time he opens his mouth.”
And in a related development, President Kibaki’s private secretary Professor Nick Wanjohi distanced himself any political party including Musalia Mudavadi’s United Dem orcartic Front that has been reportedly linked to him in media.
