Calm in Galka’o

dagaal1Galka’o (Alshahid) – Peace and tranquility has returned to Galka’o town, just a day after heavy fighting between forces loyal to Puntland and businesses men of the town in Mudug

At least 6 people were killed and 15 others were wounded in Galka’o town on Thursday as bitter fighting between troops of Puntland and armed businessmen in the north of the town.

Reports say that more officials from the Islamic clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a, Galmudud State and Puntland administration had achieved to mediate and halted the clash between the both sides which caused more casualties of deaths, injuries and loss of properties in the town.

Sheik Ali Abdukadir, one of the Islamist clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland told reporters that they successfully achieved to halt the fighting of both the warring sides pointing out that they also met with the two sides and agreed ceasefire.

The local people also raised their concerns’ over the insecurity and pleaded with the local elders ceasefire
