Nairobi (Alshahid) -Medical Services minister Anyang’ Nyong’o has appointed a new chief executive officer of Kenyatta National Hospital.

Mr Richard Leserian Lesiyampe, the Deputy Director Finance and Administration at Kenya Wildlife Service starts his three-year tenure Thursday.

He was interviewed by the the Kenyatta National Hospital Board.

“Twenty one (21) people applied for the post. Four were shortlisted for the interviews of which Lesiyampe emerged the best,” said a statement from the Ministry of Medical Services Thursday.

Mr Lesiyampe, a management specialist, holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing a PHD at Kenya Methodist University, said the statement.

He replaces the acting CEO, Dr Charles Kabetu in office since December 2010 following the expiry of Dr Jotham Michemi’s contract.

Kenyatta National Hospital is Kenya’s biggest referral hospital. (DN)
