Somalia: new independent political party leader
Mogadishu (Alshahid) – Following length deliberations in a Hotel in Mogadishu, Peace and Development Party (PDP) has elected Eng. Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud as its new leader.
The conference started on 17th and ended 18 April; the Peace and Development Party (PDP) electoral committee, which was constituted during the two day conference, concluded the election of the chairman and the central council of the party.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud remains the leader of the Peace and Development Party (PDP) for the next three years after being elected unanimously by 155 members of the PDP.
Eng. Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, the new leader of the PDP addressed the conference thanking the members of the party for electing him.
Mr. Mohamoud promised that he will keep the rules and principles of the Peace and Development Party (PDP).
High level personalities who attended the meeting include former Somali information minister, Dahir Mohamoud Gelle, Mohamed Nur Shegow, a Somali MP and members of Hawiye traditional elders as well as several civil society representatives.
