SommarinesMogadishu (Alshahid) – Somali Marine forces made parade in Mogadishu on Sunday commemorating the 46 anniversary of the Somali Marines, officials said on Monday.

Admiral Farah Qare, the commander of the Somali Marines told reporters that the Somali Marine forces were ready to defend the Somali coast.

“We need from the International Community to take an important role in training of the Somali marine forces,” said Admiral Qare.

“The Marines do not have enough equipment to protect the coast and fight the rampant piracy in Somalia’s coast,” he added.

Somali pirates hijack foreign ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Somali coast. Foreign Navies patrol in the area to deter the pirates, but they still hijack ships and get millions of dollars of ransom.
