Nicolas Bwakira AU special envoy to Somalia

Hargeisa (AlShahid) – African Union special envoy to Somalia, Nicolas Bwakira has reached in Hargeisa, the capital of the breakaway republic of Somaliland.Nicolas Bwakira is trying to mediate between the opposition parties and the government led President Dahir Riyale Kahin who are deadlocked about the coming presidential elections.

Mr. Bwakira has been welcomed in Hargeisa airport by officials from both the government and the opposition parties.

He is meeting in Hargeisa with President Dahir Rayale and the leaders of the opposition parties to mediate between them.

Tension between the government and the opposition has been very high since the government ordered the reprehensive of the InterPeace organization to leave from Somaliland.

Tekade Alemu Ethiopian state minister has been in Hargeisa for a week in a bid to solve the difference between the two sides.
